Resources for Virtual Assistants: Forums and Groups

Whether you’re new to the virtual assistant field or a seasoned veteran I’m sure you’ve learned that we could all use a little help sometimes. I’ve decided to compile a list of my favorite virtual assistant groups and forums. The inspiration from this post came from reading Vernessa Taylor’s guest post over at Growmap entitled Virtual Assistants: Step Up Your Game.

In my experience, groups and forums can be really helpful. There are lots of benefits.

–You can get advice from others who have already been there.

–You can learn tips and tricks on everything from time management to retaining new clients.

–If you’re already established you can still benefit. Give back to the VA community and help the newbies. Remember, you were in their shoes once!

–It’s also never too late to learn something new. Forums are always filled with class/training announcements.

It’s a great way to network and connect with others in your industry.

Here’s my little list of helpful groups and forums in no particular order. Most contain links so you can stop by right now!

LinkedIn Groups:

  1. International Virtual Assistants Association (IVAA)
  2. LinkedIn Virtual Assistant Community (LVAC)
  3. VA Outsourcing Resources
  4. VAlinkedin

Yahoo! Groups:

  1. Virtual Assistants International Group (VAIG)
  2. Virtual Assistant Network
  3. Virtual Assistants

Meetup Group:

  1. Virtual Networking Cafe

Forums:

  1. VirtualAssistantForums.com
  2. The VA Passport
  3. VANetworking.com
  4. FindVirtual.com

There you have it. You can start out by picking one or two of these sites and getting involved. Most of them are free to sign up, however, the paid ones are well worth it. I frequent some of these regularly. If you see me, say hi! Do you have any groups or forums to add to this list?

Disclosure: Some of these links are affiliate links. I may receive a commission if you sign up. Hey, we all have to make money somehow, right?

  1. Hmmmm, interesting indeed. One of the hardest things about my job is keeping me organized and on task, because I have to do it. I need an assistant to help me with appointment, remind me what my day has in it, etc. Maybe these links are not the assistants for this, but it sounded interesting……..:).

Good to see you and hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your family.

    1. Hey Bill!

Yes, virtual assistants can definitely help you with the tasks you listed. There are sites with directories in which you can search for a VA that will really narrow it down to their field of expertise. Actually, Find Virtual which is on the above list is also one of those places. I plan on writing a post in the coming weeks with a list of websites that are helpful to VAs. Many of these also help people to find the right VA for them as well. I will definitely note those in the post. If you’re truly looking for someone, I’d be happy to help you with your search.

Our turkey day was great! The baby wasn’t fond of mashed potatoes but other than that, everything was a hit! I hope you and your family were able to spend some quality time together. Thanks for stopping by:)

  2. I found it hard also to be organized and such a virtual assistant would be of great help for me. But I can’t imagine how these links help when it comes up to appointments, meetings , etc?

    1. Hi Anna,

This post was mainly a resource for virtual assistants to find each other and connect through groups and forums. I will, however, write a post detailing reliable websites that you can visit if you’re looking for a virtual assistant. Stay tuned and thanks for visiting!

  3. Hi Alicia,

Thanks for referencing my guest post at GrowMap. Your comment over there, which shared some of these resources, was very helpful. Glad you posted them here. I’ll be checking them out, too!

  4. When ever I need to look for a VA i usually go to Odesk.com and outsource some Professional VA that can meet my requirements. I will going to try some of the VA groups you mentioned here so that I can weight in my options. Thanks for sharing this Alicia.

  5. Is there any service provider that you particularly recommend as a starting point? Care to share your experience with them?

I have been trying out stuff at elance and it can be a hit or miss.

  6. Thanks Alicia, I’ve just started thinking about using VA’s but I didn’t know where to start. You have some great resources listed here so hopefully I can find what I am looking for. Do you have any tips for hiring VA’s?

    Cheers,
    Elaine
